Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cdups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  5. Add the boiling water to the batter and mix until smooth. The batter will be thin.

  6. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.

  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

  9. Once the cakes are cool, you can frost them with your favorite chocolate frosting. Enjoy!
